Board of Directors

JunKoo Kim

Junkoo Kim, founder of WEBTOON, has served as our Chief Executive Officer since September 2016 when the company was incorporated, overseeing corporate management and the global content business. Mr. Kim currently serves as Chairman of our board of directors. Mr. Kim joined NAVER Corporation as a developer in 2004, and has over 19 years of experience in comics/digital content. Mr. Kim studied Applied Chemistry at Seoul National University and received a Bachelor of Science degree.

Haejin Lee

Haejin Lee has served as a member of our board of directors since October 2020. Mr. Lee is also the founder of NAVER Corporation.
Mr. Lee served as chairman of NAVER Corporation’s board of directors after co-founding NAVER Corporation in 1999 until March 2017, and now works as its Global Investment Officer. Mr. Lee studied Computer Science and Engineering at Seoul National University and obtained a Master of Computer Science from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.

Namsun Kim

Namsun Kim has served as a member of our board of directors since May 2024. Mr. Kim has been the Chief Financial Officer of NAVER Corporation since March 2022, where Mr. Kim is responsible for corporate and business development, strategy, investments/M&A, and global growth initiatives. Prior to his role as CFO, Mr. Kim joined NAVER Corporation in 2020 to lead corporate development and strategic investments and also oversaw WEBTOON’s finance function, when he served as the Chief Financial Officer of WEBTOON from March 2022 to October 2023. Before joining NAVER Corporation, Mr. Kim led Private Equity Investments in Korea at Macquarie Group from April 2017 to July 2020, during which time he served on the boards of ADT Korea and LG CNS. Between 2012 and 2017, Mr. Kim held several investment banking positions at Morgan Stanley and Lazard across New York, Hong Kong, and Seoul. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kim was a corporate attorney at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. Mr. Kim received a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science & Engineering from Seoul National University and a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School.

Jun Masuda

Jun Masuda has been a member of our board of directors since October 2020. Mr. Masuda also has served as a member of board director of LINE Digital Frontier Corporation, WEBTOON's subsidiary in Japan. Mr. Masuda was previously President and Representative Director, Chief Product Officer of Z Entertainment Corporation from April 2021 to September 2023. As of October 2023, Mr. Masuda started to serve as the Executive Corporate Officer and Entertainment Company CEO of LY Corporation. Mr. Masuda also serves as an outside director of Yume no Machi Souzou Iinkai Co., Ltd (now known as Demae-can Co., Ltd.).

David Lee

David J. Lee is Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for WEBTOON, where he oversees global corporate, financial and operations teams for WEBTOON, Wattpad, and Wattpad WEBTOON Studios. A seasoned consumer and technology industry executive, Mr. Lee brings over two decades of experience across a variety of finance leadership roles. Prior to WEBTOON, Mr. Lee was the CEO of Inevitable Tech while serving on public company boards for AppHarvest, Benson Hill, and Zevia. Previously, Mr. Lee was the COO & CFO of Impossible Foods, where he successfully led the company’s launch of the Impossible Burger and its nationwide distribution. Prior to Impossible Foods, Mr. Lee was the public company CFO of Zynga, where he led the company’s finance and corporate development teams and helped lead the company’s transformation from web-based to mobile. From 2004 to 2012, Mr. Lee held leadership roles at Del Monte Foods and led its take-private transaction, overseeing its consumer products business, corporate strategic planning, government relations, corporate communications and financial planning. Mr. Lee also led corporate finance, strategy and development for Best Buy during its transformation from 2012 to 2014. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lee worked in advertising at the Leo Burnett company and strategy at McKinsey & Company. Mr. Lee currently serves on the Board of Directors for Zevia and Benson Hill, and is a Fellow at the Council of Korean Americans and the Network of Korean American Leaders. He earned his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Art from Harvard College.

Isabelle Winkles

Isabelle Winkles has served as a member of the Board since April 2024. Ms. Winkles has been the CFO of Braze, Inc. since January 2020. Ms. Winkles was previously Vice President, Finance and Chief of Staff to the Chief Financial Officer of Cognizant Technologies Solutions Corp. from April 2018 to January 2020. Ms. Winkles also served as Managing Director at Morgan Stanley from January 2016 to April 2018. Ms. Winkles received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard University.

Nancy Dubuc

Nancy Dubuc has served as a member of the Board since May 2024. Ms. Dubuc has been serving as a member of the board of directors and chair of the audit committee of Warner Music Group Corporation’s since July 2021. At Flutter Entertainment Plc, Ms. Dubuc has been a member of the Compensation and Human Resources Committee and the Risk and Sustainability Committee since May 2024, and previously served on the Audit Committee and the NCG & Remuneration Committee.
Professionally, Ms. Dubuc was the Chief Executive Officer of Vice Media, LLC from May 2018 to February 2023. Prior to that, she held multiple executive positions at A&E Television Networks, LLC from November 1993 to April 2018, including President and Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Dubuc began her career at WGBH Educational Foundation Inc. and later worked at Big Rock Productions. Ms. Dubuc earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Boston University.

David Lee

Yongsoo Kim

Yongsoo Kim is the Chief Strategy Officer for WEBTOON Entertainment since December 2023 and leads global strategic initiatives to accelerate WEBTOON’s organic and inorganic growth and global integration.

He joined the company in November 2022 as Head of Strategy and served in the position until December 2023, leading the company-wide transformation in 2023.
Previously, Mr. Kim was Principal at KKR, where he led turnaround efforts for KKR’s portfolio companies and worked on investment activities in Korea. Before his role at KKR, Mr. Kim was part of the founding team at Tesla Korea, was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company, and held various roles at Korean gaming company Netmarble. He also worked as COO for Y Combinator-backed Mars Auto. Mr. Kim served as a director at ECORBIT Corp. and TSK Corporation and served as an auditor at HD Hyundai Marine Solution Co., Ltd. Mr. Kim received a Bachelor of Business Administration at Yonsei University in 2012.

Chankyu Park

Chankyu Park is the Chief Technology Officer for WEBTOON Entertainment and its subsidiaries overseeing the development of its webcomic and web-novel platforms. Mr. Park joined NAVER as a developer in 2003, and has developed services for various business lines, including finance, business, music, and games. Mr. Park also has spent over 13 years as a leader of technical teams at the same company since 2005, and has continued to serve as a leadership role since joining NAVER WEBTOON in 2018. He was appointed Vice President of NAVER WEBTOON in 2019 and Chief Technology Officer of WEBTOON Entertainment in 2021. Mr. Park received his bachelor's degree in Math from Kwangwoon University.

Kyunam Kim

Kyunam Kim is the Chief Risk Management Officer for WEBTOON Entertainment and its subsidiaries overseeing legal and public relations since August 2024. Mr. Kim joined NAVER WEBTOON in February 2018, and he assumed leadership for legal in August 2019, a role he held until January 2024. Mr. Kim was appointed Vice President at NAVER WEBTOON in May 2022. Mr. Kim previously worked at GS Engineering and Construction. Mr Kim received a Bachelor of German Language and Literature degree in Korea University and his Juris Doctor degree from Korea University's Law School.

Hyeeun Son

Hyeeun Son is the Chief Design Officer for WEBTOON Entertainment and its subsidiaries, overseeing design for the company’s webcomic and web-novel platforms. Ms. Son joined NAVER as a designer in 2006, and has extensive experience in entertainment products including games and, music as well as brand and marketing design. In September 2017, Ms. Son joined NAVER WEBTOON, was appointed Vice President of NAVER WEBTOON in March 2019, and Chief Design Officer of WEBTOON Entertainment in 2022. Prior to joining NAVER, Ms. Son worked as a web designer for about six years at Tien, Danal and CJ Internet. Ms. Son received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communication Design from Hongik University.

Hyojung Kim

Hyojung Kim is the Chief Product Officer for WEBTOON Entertainment and its subsidiaries overseeing product planning for the company’s webcomic and web-novel platforms. Ms. Kim joined NAVER in 2005, where she managed service planning and business planning. Ms. Kim assumed leadership for Product UX design in May 2010, a role she held until August 2016. Ms. Kim also held Product Design & Experience Leader role from April 2017 until joining NAVER WEBTOON in April 2019. Ms. Kim was appointed Vice President at NAVER WEBTOON in May 2022 and Chief Product Officer of WEBTOON Entertainment later in 2022. Ms. Kim previously worked at IBM KOREA on customer relationship management (CRM) strategies, UX planning, UX evaluation, and execution design. She received her bachelor’s degree in Crafts from Kookmin University and her master’s degree of Fine Arts in Visual Communication Design from Hongik University.

Masamine Takahashi

Masamine Takahashi is the Chief Executive Officer of LINE Digital Frontier, a Japanese subsidiary of WEBTOON Entertainment that operates LINE MANGA and ebookjapan, leading corporate management since July 2022.

Mr. Takahashi previously worked at the Yahoo! Japan Corporation, joining in 2006. In 2018, Mr. Takahashi was elevated to Head of Digital Content Division at Yahoo! Japan, responsible for games, manga, fortune, and dating services. Prior to Yahoo! Japan, Mr. Takahashi has also served as an IT Business Consultant at IX Knowledge Inc. Mr. Takahashi received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Tokyo International University.

Sinbae Kim

Sinbae Kim is the Chief Growth Officer at LINE Digital Frontier, a Japanese subsidiary of WEBTOON Entertainment that operates LINE MANGA and ebookjapan. Joining in 2013, Mr. Kim first oversaw business strategy development for Southeast Asian market at LINE+, a company that conducts global business on the LINE mobile platform. Mr. Kim then joined NAVER WEBTOON in September 2017 to manage strategic planning and IP business. In August 2020, Mr. Kim began to oversee strategy planning in Japan, and in May 2022, was appointed Vice President of NAVER WEBTOON.

Mr. Kim received a bachelor’s degree of Science in Electrical Engineering from KAIST, and a master’s degree of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Harvard University.

Daesik Kim

Daesik Kim is the Head of AI&Data for WEBTOON Entertainment and its subsidiaries. Mr. Kim joined the company from V.DO Inc., which was acquired by NAVER WEBTOON in 2019. He began to oversee NAVER WEBTOON’s artificial intelligence organizations in November 2020, in a role that later expanded to oversee both data and AI teams in November 2022. Mr. Kim was appointed Vice President of NAVER WEBTOON in 2022.

Before joining NAVER WEBTOON, Mr. Kim served as CEO of AI startup V.DO Inc. from September 2017 to December 2019, where he also oversaw business management and deep learning computer vision project management as CTO. Mr. Kim received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Management Engineering at POSTECH, and a PhD in Intelligence and Information (machine learning, deep learning researcher) from Seoul National University.

Yuki Chae

Yuki Chae is the Head of Korean Content Services for WEBTOON Entertainment, overseeing Korean content and the products for NAVER WEBTOON, responsible for local webnovel and webcomic content operations. Chae joined NAVER in 2013, before transitioning to WEBTOON to support the company’s webcomics and webnovel business in 2014. As senior manager, Chae oversaw strategic planning, data analysis, content management, and platform operations for content services across the United States, Korea, and Japan. In 2021, he transitioned to product planning and service operations for LINE Digital Frontier in Japan and was appointed as vice president at NAVER WEBTOON in 2022, before leading Operations for WEBTOON’s US business In 2023. Chae holds a bachelor's degree in Media & Communications from Korea University.

Kyungbo Nam

Kyungbo Nam is President of Wattpad, a subsidiary of WEBTOON Entertainment, and a leading web-novel platform that is home to a passionate global community of readers and writers. Mr. Nam joined NAVER WEBTOON in December 2020 to oversee strategic initiatives across the company’s webcomic and web-novel business units. In 2022, he was appointed as vice president at NAVER WEBTOON and appointed as President of Wattpad later in the same year. Mr. Nam started his career at NAVER, the parent company of WEBTOON Entertainment, working in a variety of industry analyst, strategy, and business development roles. Mr. Nam also led LINE+’s mobile games, advertising, and news service businesses in South East Asian markets, with a focus on Indonesia. Mr. Nam has previously served as Chief Operating Officer at crypto exchange and edtech startups. Mr. Nam received a bachelor's degree of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from Seoul National University.

Shinok Lee (David)

Shinok Lee (David) is the Head of US WEBTOON at WEBTOON Entertainment, responsible for overseeing the product and content of webcomics in North America. Mr. Lee joined NAVER, WEBTOON Entertainment's parent company, as a developer in 2013. He joined WEBTOON in 2014, where he supported various global webcomic and web- novel services, including content sourcing, service operations, marketing, and business strategy. In 2019, as a Head of Content for WEBTOON Entertainment, he spearheaded content launches, business partnerships, and platform operations for the US service. He was appointed Vice President of WEBTOON Entertainment in 2024. Mr. Lee holds a Bachelor's and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette.

Aron Levitz

Aron Levitz is President of Wattpad WEBTOON Studios, leading a team of global entertainment and publishing experts to create data-backed, fan-driven hit TV shows, films, and books from WEBTOON and Wattpad. Levitz pioneered Wattpad’s adaptation business, launching Wattpad Studios in 2016 and serving as the company’s global studio head until the creation of Wattpad WEBTOON Studios in 2021. Prior to this, Mr. Levitz was Head of Business Development at Wattpad, building the company’s monetization strategy and native advertising solution. Before joining Wattpad, Mr. Levitz was Senior Director of Strategic Alliances at Xtreme Labs developing business and mobile strategies for the media brands. Prior to Xtreme Labs, he was Director of Entertainment and Global Content Acquisition at BlackBerry launching music, movie, TV, and gaming services. Mr. Levitz received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Waterloo.

Mikyung Kwon (Michelle)

Mikyung Kwon (Michelle) is Chief Executive Officer for STUDIO N, a subsidiary of WEBTOON Entertainment founded in August 2018 to produce films, TV series, animation. and other entertainment content based on webcomic and web-novel IP. Ms. Kwon has overseen STUDIO N’s business and corporate management from its founding to the present, Ms. Kwon has produced hits like “Bloodhounds”, which landed on Netflix’s Top 10 lists (Non-English TV series) in 2023, and “Sweet Home”, which ranked third among Netflix TV series worldwide in 2020, adapting original IP from WEBTOON Entertainment and its subsidiaries. Prior to incorporating STUDIO N, Ms. Kwon was the COO of CJ ENM’s film division, the largest entertainment company in Korea, where she oversaw the company’s film slate. Previously, Ms. Kwon served as the director of marketing for Walt Disney Korea Studios from 2011 to 2013 and was in charge of film marketing for CJ Entertainment from 2006 to 2011.

Ms. Kwon received a BA in physics and French Language & Literature from Sookmyung Women’s University and an MA in Transnational Communication and Global Media from the University of London’s Goldsmiths College.

Kyuho Roh

Kyuho Roh is the Head of Global Ads for WEBTOON Entertainment. Roh joined NAVER in 2007, working on service planning and display advertising, focusing on the entertainment and commerce sectors. In 2014, Kyuho transitioned to a leadership role in NAVER WEBTOON’s advertising for the webcomics and webnovel businesses. Since 2017, he has been developing global advertising strategies as senior manager and was appointed as vice president at NAVER WEBTOON in 2022. He holds a master's degree in Media & Communications from Sogang University.
